One thing more!

As the movie Ratatouille shows us, anyone can cook.  That includes me!

The current problem is, at the moment we're kind of running dry on things to cook. Pasta was fun for a while, and Thai food has been made a few times to add diversity, but Bank and I are starting to get a bit bored with the "same old, same old" recipes that we already have.

So, this blog post is a plea: If you have any favorite recipes, please pass them along!!

I'm working with an electric stovetop, a 22cm frying pan, a 3 Liter pot and a 2 Liter pot.  =)  Groceries here are basically the same, and we have (or can find) a pretty wide variety of spices.  So, if you have a favorite recipe (or two, or twelve) please email it to me!!

Bank and I are fairly good cooks, and we're capable of improvising and fitting the recipes to our needs and abilities.  If you have any suggestions or recipes or anything like that, shoot me an email or a message of facebook or an IM!!! =)

So, thank you in advance!!

Much love!

  3. Something tasty, easy and quick:
    Make pasta.
Saute some vegetables (which ever ones you like). When they're about done, dump a bunch of spaghetti sauce in (whatever proportion you like), and drop the heat way down. Add a small dash of balsamic vinegar (this cuts the tomato bite, and adds yummy carmelized something flavor), and some spices. Once it comes to a boil, put some cheese on top, cut the heat and (if you can) cover it for about a minute. Add some thyme/oregano/basil/whatever, and you have a fancy looking sauce. Meat can go in it too, and it's still really tasty.
Oh, some sort of spicy is also really, really helpful. Just enough to give it a small kick. (Or more, if you like)

  4. Everything is better when Senor Tequila shows up for dinner.

2 breasts of chicken, marinade each in a plastic bag for 8 hours minimum in a 50/50 mixture of gold tequila and lime juice.

Chop up white onion, red and green peppers and mix.

Prep a pan for your chicken, do not use butter, throw em in and add marinade periodically to increase lime flavor. The marinade will carmelize so move the chicken around a bit periodically.

Cheat and use one of your pots like a frying pan, add the peppers/onion to it and then add some of the marinade and sautee.

When the chicken is near done, add the pepper/onion mix to the pan and whatever marinade you have left, then shake the pan and mix it all well, so that the chicken, carmelized mix, and pep/onions all get some extra flavor on them.

Try to time it so that the pepper/onion has still got some crispness to it when the chicken is done.

Put that on a plate and eat it. The hash is the best part, and the chicken is delicious and lime-y. It will taste like sunshine.

I do this with two whole breasts but you can do it with chopped chicken and make it like a stirfry all in one pan if you like. YOu will not get as much carmelization though, which gives it a little extra bite.

    Luck.
